A bit about the Neutrals:

We're based in Sacramento, California.

Our musical style can best be described as acoustic-driven pop/rock with funk and jazz influences. Their self-titled debut record features catchy lyrics, intertwining melodies and harmonies along with rock-solid grooves.

Something about The Neutrals:

The Neutrals play an off-beat brand of pop-rock with funk and jazz flavors... "Coldplay meets Dave Matthews Band", as one of their loyal fans says. Heartfelt lyrics featuring intertwining melodies and harmonies with innovative progressions are their trademark.

Their songs have at their heart Nick Cohen's acoustic guitar and soulful voice, giving the music a true singer-songwriter feel. Steve Trovao supplies rock-solid and musical drumming that provides the perfect complement to each song. Steve Thomas fills out the low end with his funk inspired bass. To that, add joe Najera's electric guitar: from subdued, textural, ambient and ethereal to raucous and frenetic, and everywhere in between. When they play live, these songs become a canvas for expression and musical exploration.

The Neutrals have been playing live shows in the greater Sacramento and Bay Area since 2004, and released a full-length self-titled debut studio album in 2005. They have performed in settings ranging from rockin' outdoor festivals and fairs around California to a more mellow coffeehouse atmosphere with a "storytellers" vibe. They play regularly at Borders Books and Music, Sacramento Brewing Company, and other similar venues.
